查普曼昨晚投出史詩級表現，7局就登板，投2.2局送出4K拿下救援點，單場投42球是個人本季用球數新高，第8局三壘有人、輪到投手打擊，總教練麥登（Joe Maddon）決定不換代打，好讓查普曼續丟。
這個決定可讓查普曼開心極了，雖然生涯多半待在國聯，但擔任終結者的他只有過2次上場打擊的機會。後援投手史卓普（Pedro Strop）表示，當查普曼知道自己8局要上場打擊時，立刻大喊「我要進打擊籠！」
查普曼跑進打擊練習區試打了幾次，史卓普說，「他看起來很開心，就像個孩子一樣。」事實上，查普曼更早就開始準備了，5局時他就跟其他打者一起在打擊區練習，拿了根球棒就開始打T（擊球座練習）。
捕手蒙特洛（Miguel Montero）則有點擔心，「老兄，省點力氣吧，你等下還要上場投球耶。」但蒙特洛也很好奇查普曼打擊究竟如何，「如果他能夠擊中球，我想能夠打得很遠。」
不過查普曼最後只看了5顆球就被艾倫（Cody Allen）三振，查普曼笑笑的說，「他的球太快了。」
>儘管前役用了42球，但今天有一天休兵日，也代表查普曼第6戰還有可能上場，麥登表示，「他很強壯，我不覺得我們有過度使用他，我會跟他聊聊，但我打賭，他會說明天投個2局沒問題。」
